It often surprises me how tough it can be to find good fresh seafood in South Florida. In our quest for fresh seafood, we went a little out of our way to this little place that I had heard about for years. Do not come here for chic decor or a dressy night out. This is "old Florida 80"s style decor: paneled walls, clam like sconces, & fish on the walls. It is a perfect place to bring the kids but don't get fooled by the down home decor. This place is not cheap, although I do believe the prices are fair. We started with the Smoked Fish Dip ($10.95). I am not usually a fish dip lover but this was one of the better ones I have had. It was thick and creamy with just the right amount of chunkiness. It had a very fresh flavor with just a touch of spice. Our server was kind enough enough to let me try a bit of the Seafood Vinagarette appetizer which I found to be a little too sweet. Instead, I ordered the Tuna Yuki ($13.95), kind of a tuna tartar with kimchi sauce. Unfortunately I found this to be way too salty and I had to send it back. Husband and boys all got Lobster Bisque ($5.95/Mug) . I tried it and it was good: very thick, creamy, and filling. I would not order it if you really wanted room for your main dish. Our server recommended the Hogfish Francaise ($32.95) which both Husband and I ordered. Funny, I can't say anything negative about this dish. The hogfish was fresh, buttery smooth, not overcooked. The lemon butter sauce was just a little too mellow, making the dish a little "blah". I would not order it again. 10 year old had a Crab cake: dense with crab and tasty 9 year old had Kelly's Gulfstream Grouper ($34.95) ....: it was grouper with lobster sauce, shrimp, crab, and scallops. It was a huge portion and cooked nicely. The scallops and shrimp were well seasoned and the lobster sauce was very tasty. Service was a 5. Kudos to our friendly server Joanna. Her enthusiasm about the restaurant was c. She expalined that she had been a customer for several years and just got her first server job there four months ago. She took her time to explain and recommend items on the menu. She always kept an eye on our table to see if we needed anything and kept our drinks full. Overall, a bit of a disappointment. Really a 3 1/2 but I could not round up to a 4 even with the superior service. Fresh fish? Yes. But the preparation left a little to be desired. It was uneven and flat. This rating after only one visit may be premature. However, I am more than willing to try Seafood World again to give it another chance (but I do not know if I would drive out of my way again to do it!)ontagious

One of the worst meals I've ever had. Place was not busy and service took forever; it would have been acceptable if we actually received hot, or even warm food.

Easy to get to mall restaurant on Federal Highway located essentially between Pompano Beach and Deerfield Beach.... As you walk into SeaWorld you know you're in the right place if raw seafood is your thing ,whether they be clams or oysters....But instead we opted for Missy's baked oysters with fresh garlic & special seasoning.crab cakes & pasta with white clam sauce. Mary our server ,was 5 stars. Everything we ordered was 4 to 5 stars.. The menu choices were clearly 5 stars. The ambience was 3 to 4 stars. Can't wait to return. If it were not for the relatively high prices I probably would have rated this restaurant 5 stars. Except for ambience this spot is one of my favorite seafood restaurants in the area.

Hands down one of best dining experience -- the freshest seafood without all of the frills. Every point of the night was spectacular: complimentary valet, live music, attentive hostess and waiting staff, world-class seafood (scallops are a MUST HAVE), and a reasonable bill that was WELL WORTH it. Hands down, thank you SW Team!

I've eaten here twice over the course of the year. Both times the seafood was excellent and so was the service. If you like crab order a pound of their king crab legs. Their tiramisu is not good and I wouldn't bother trying it. I'm not sure why they bother making it in-house. The decour could use a lot of help. For example, the owner has a huge pictures of grandkids on the wall that seems out of place considering the other decorations are random and tacky. I'd give it 5 stars for food alone. However, the poor ambience warrants a lower price point and that's why I'm giving it four stars.

This place offers outstanding seafood-its fresh and prepared perfectly! The portions are appropriate for the price and the staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and good people. The decor reminds me of a pub you would find in a fishing village in new england--comfortable, relaxed, yet authentic. I have pretty high standards, especially when it comes to seafood, and this place exceeds them.

3.75 stars. This mom and pop joint is the place to get seafood in pompano/deerfield. I could swear the fisherman get the fish fresh from the ocean to the cook to your plate. You're paying for the food here, this isnt a great dining experience as far as scenery or people watching unless your kind of scene is the bottom deck of a pirate ship. The inside is small, they have 2 seperate rooms but only 1 respectable one. Theyre going to charge you a pretty penny but you get your dollars worth in food and service. The free french baguette is real good and so are the crackers, and theyre even better with the conch chowder and lobster bisque. The conch chowder has a good kick to it especially with one of the many hot sauces they provide, the lobster bisque has chunks of lobster but it is a little to oily. Last time here the chowder wasnt as hot as it should be and thats a big turnoff. The Killer BLT is damn near preventing me from trying anything else on the menu. It comes with blackened mahi topped with a really good crab cake, one of the best ive had. The portion and the quality make the price tag worth it. Blackened shrimp is tasty but Prime 112's jumbo shrimp has ruined every shrimp dish ive had since by setting the bar so high. They have daily specials that i've tried but i wouldnt recommend because they surely werent touching anything on the regular menu. Our waitress showed us the mahi parmesan stuffed with crabmeat and it looked amazing. The service is exactly what you want when eating out, its true appreciation only found at a mom and pop place, but at the same time the service is what it should be due to the price they charge. Ive been given free sides of dirty rice and also they gave us a free slice of chocolate cake during our first visit, and it was pretty good.

Date of visit: Sunday July 1st Overall Papa Hughie's was the best Seafood experience I've ever had. The service was super friendly, the atmosphere was cozy, and casual while the food was top quality. It's a li'l on the pricey side for me, but so definitely worth it. The restaurant has a dark, rustic and cozy vibe. The interior consists of dark woods, and creaky plank floorboards that lend it character. It's a place where the dishes are polished but the floors are not. It's also a wholesale seafood market. There's nothing more reassuring than walking in and seeing the busy seafood counter stocked with the catch of the day: enormous stone crab claws, scallops, squid, you name it - all ready to be sold or prepared for lunch. Good sign. The boyfriend and I stopped in for an anniversary lunch after spending the morning kayaking nearby. When we walked in the server greeted us warmly and asked if we were there for the wine tasting. Wine tasting? Score. We let her know we were there for lunch but that we'd love to check out the wine tasting. She and another server escorted us to the tasting area, and told us to feel free to mingle before, after, or between courses. They had a separate, slightly brighter/more polished back area set up for the vendors with an array of nibbly bits which the restaurant had catered. We took a quick tour around, eating with our eyes before going back to our table to order lunch. Being that boy had been here a couple of times before; he went with some of the recommended favorites, while I ordered some of my benchmark standards. He started off with a mug of the Bahamian Conch Chowder [$4.95] (This surprised me... because he's a Bostonian and I thought fer sher he'd go with the Clam Chowda - 9 years and you think you know a person.) The chowder was meaty and savory, the conch was firm but not tough. However, what really made it was a touch of sherry vinegar that was brought to the table along with the order. It was another pleasant surprise, the nice little boost of flavor that was and how it rounded out all the flavors. Make sure you try it with your order. I ordered the 1/2 dozen Oysters on the Half Shell [$7.95] I love shellfish and raw oysters are a good measure of freshness and overall quality of product used. These were briny, plump, fresh and clean. Not a trace of grit, no cracked shells to chip a tooth on, no unsightly barnacle looking things that I remember and - attention to detail - they had already been pre-separated from the shell for my slurping convenience. It really is the little things that make me happy. I could've easily had 2 dozen more but I was trying to save myself for the rest of the meal, and the wine tasting. Main Courses: Boy had come here on a mission fer hogfish, which apparently everyone in his office had recommended. Hogfish isn't always available so it is a special treat when you can get it. The menu lists Hog Snapper Francaise [$32.95] as an entrée but Hugh had recommended it Livornese instead so that's what he went with. The fish was expertly prepared, cooked beautifully, moist, fork tender and melt in your mouth. The Livornese sauce was lovely but I did find the fish a little mild for my taste. 's why I usually stick with my shellfish. I ordered the appetizer portion of the Grilled Lump Crab Cakes [$16.95] For the money, I got two large fluffy, ridiculously meaty crab cakes. I was so delighted I think my eyes rolled back and my eyelids fluttered for a second on the first mouthful. They were so good I hardly touched the mustard sauce they came with, and I'm usually adamant about my dipping sauces. I immediately wished I had ordered the entrée portion. Our lovely waitress came to ask about our dessert order. She recommended the Key Lime Pie "it'll be the best you ever had." How can you have all that seafood and not finish it off with key lime pie? So we ordered it but asked her to hold it until we'd had some time to check out the wine tasting in earnest. We spent fifteen or twenty minutes trying wines and chatting with the vendors who spoke highly of the restaurant and its owners. They mentioned that the wine tasting was only one of several free, open to the public events that Papa Hughie's likes to host as a way of saying thanks to their patrons. They were featuring wines that were either already available on the menu or looking to be added to the wine list and everything was available to order by the bottle or the case at wholesale prices. When one of the vendors also recommended the Key Lime Pie to us, we decided it was time to go back and enjoy dessert, then she gave us a couple of glasses of a nice white to pair with it. We got back to our table, waved to the waitress and the pie came to the table shortly thereafter. It may have been slightly over chilled because I didn't get a lot of the Key Lime flavor right away, but it did build on the palate and it was exceptionally smooth and creamy. Best I've had? I think so.

I am so excited to have this great place right in the neighborhood! Walking in, it is bright and clean. We sat at the bar and our bartender Pat was awesome! He reccomended the grilled oysters which were SO fresh and amazing. Everything we had, from the chowder to the sushi, was fresh and delicious. They have specials a lot of nights such as 1/2 price sushi for ladies night, 1/2 off oysters, and $5 stone crab claws. They also have a HUGE beer menu and a great wine list. Definitely will be back again and again!

GO THERE NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh man, where do I start?! Was planning on lunch with a group, and someone suggested another popular stone crab joint. Knowing there was no way I was going back to "the restaurant that shall not be named" after 3 abysmal visits, I yelped stone crab in the greater Ft Lauderdale area. Seeing so many good reviews for Seafood World, I talked the group into going there instead. WOW!!! We were greeted politely by the people who work at the seafood counter where you can buy fresh seafood to take home and cook yourself. We were then taken to the back, where the restaurant area is. Our waitress was so nice; she explained everything to us and was super helpful and kind. All her recommendations were spot on, and by the time she had recommended an awesome couple of things, I knew I was in for a treat when the main course came. The owner of the place came over and chatted with us multiple times, and one more employee came to check on how everything was. I have never been treated so well at a restaurant- EVER. Okay, the food: Lobster bisque: AWESOME, and matched Capital Grille's which is the standard. Conch chowder: AWESOME! I could have eaten 2 bowls and still eaten more. I had raw oysters which were the freshest, cleanest, most delicious oysters I've ever had. The fish tacos totally rocked, the unstuffed fish was ridiculously delicious (I'd drink the lobster sauce if I could), and the conch fritters and cracked conch were delectable. Then... the stone crabs. Look, I like stone crabs. I've eaten at Joe's a bunch of times and Billy's, which is terrible, but I'll leave that be. But given that Joe's Stone Crab gets so much attention, I can say, with 100% confidence that the stone crabs at Seafood World kicks Joe's crab's butts. All 4 of us agreed that they were the sweetest, most delicious and fresh stone crab any of us have ever had. Additionally, all the sides were really tasty, coleslaw, potato salad, Caribbean rice and peas, you name it. I am so, so, so impressed by this place. I know we will be going back very soon, as it has become our gold-standard for seafood. GO!!! Update: The mussels in the green curry sauce was seriously the best mussel dish I've ever had!

I cant attest to the service as I usually get take out. Prices are high. Stone crab and oysters are fresh. I don't really think anyone can screw up stone crab. The oysters are a bit on the small side in The world of oysters. The one thing we tried were the conch fritters and they were a big disappointment....almost to the point that I believe they were a frozen product. Complete dough and God knows we couldn't find any conch. Would never order it again. This place has fresh seafood and I'll try some of the menu items, but pass on the conch fritters.....the worst I ever had.

Totally disappointed! Got a table right away but then nothing for over 15 minutes. Finally, a person brought us a bread basket but he wasn't our waiter. Saw someone in the kitchen cleaning shrimp, and then without washing his hands served a table their meals...as it turned out he was our waiter, nice person but dysfunctional. Another 15 minutes went by before we had drinks. The bread man seeing us still waiting and that we had wiped out all the bread...brought us another basket. The fish was fresh but the price is to high for the atmosphere, the quantity of food and the extremely slow service. If you love bread it's defiantly the place to go.

I really don't understand why everyone says its pricey! Typical $50-60 for a date night joint. My boyfriend and I split the clams casino, steamed clams, mussels, and stuffed mushrooms with a few beers. It was all SO GOOD. The bread was warm and fresh, the clams perfect, and the mussels with white wine sauce are to die for. Our waitress was nice and not annoying, the bus boys were good too. can't wait to come back!

Very sadly disappointed! Let me at least start off by being somewhat positive though. My server, Mary, was great and she did the best she could for what was going to be an uphill battle. It starts by calling a couple days early to try and make a reservation, which would only be taken for parties of 6 or more. I was only a party of two. Mind you I'm making this reservation because I'm going on Good Friday. Likely, the busiest seafood day of the year. In calling ahead I ask if they serve whole fried snapper. Red or yellow tail preferably. I was assured they did, even though I didn't see it anywhere on the menu. Upon arrival, I see no whole fish behind the glass except for a single HUGE Hogfish Snapper. I ask again just to be sure, and if not to still be able to go somewhere else. This time hostess, if I would be able to get whole fried snapper. And of course she says yes. While I'm waiting for a table a gentleman comes up and begins to small talk a bit with me. I assume he is a manager, or really an owner of some sort. I also ask him about the whole fried fish to which he assures me yes. And says,"I just bought that Hogfish in today." I'm starting to get a bit worried. I have now asked this question 3 times to 3 different people with the same response! At this point it is 8 on Good Friday, and all other similar restaurants I knew of were in Miami and at least 45 minutes away, and we were being seated. Again I review the menu and ask the waitress, Mary, if I could get whole fried snapper. Her response is, "let me check on that." This made me realize, exactly what I was afraid of was about to be. Mary comes back over with that same 1 Hogfish and says "this is the only whole fish we have." That sucker was ridiculous in size at 2.2 pounds! I'm furious! After getting over it I say screw it I'll take the Hogfish. It's just under $16 a pound, but at least I was getting a whole fried fish which is what I wanted. Mary to make up for everything promised discount and even offered an extra app. No need though, that fish is 2 freaking pounds! Finally it comes to me and as I see it now fried it's literally cut to pieces almost! It was cut open 4 times on each side. Like a tic-tac-toe grid. Then fried. It basically created pull off fried chunks of fish. On top of that, it wasn't pan fried, it was deep fried! I'm no chef, but I know that you absolutely do not cook that kind of fish like that. Sure enough it was totally over cooked! Fried hard in most parts. Did I eat the whole thing? Yes. It was gonna cost $38 so you better believe I ate it. It wasn't awful. It just wasn't good! And not what I wanted for the one day out of the year I go out for a fish dinner. I needed limes to flavor the dry over cooked fish and those limes were even dryer than the fish was. Had to have been at least a day old. Mary came through on the discount, which didn't make up for things but at least helped on the high cost of something I wasn't pleased with from the start. Again Mary was fantastic all things considered. My girlfriend got the Teriyaki Salmon and she liked it. And we got the Swordfish bites as an app. That was the best thing either of us had all night. Needless to say I won't be going back ever again. Talk about a bad first experience. Seemed like a cute quaint place that I would have liked to go back to but not now. Lastly, after finishing my meal i went to the bathroom to wash my hands. Small, tight, men's bathroom so the door was slightly ajar and I left it that way as I was only quickly washing my hands. Smelled kinda funky, but again it was a single, small bathroom. As I turn to find paper towels I see the toilet with poop literally smeared all over it! It was so bad, I immediately turn to step out the door and tell the first person I see, at the service counter, "the men's bathroom is a disaster!' Make of that what you will. Unfortunately the lesson here to the owners and managers is, don't promise what you can't deliver!

there is only one seafood world - fresh fish as it was meant to be served. When you walk in the door you know its fresh and you can feel like you stepped back in time to when family's owned and operated the local seafood joint. Conch chowder, conch stew (when available) stone crabs, ALSKAN KING CRAP (yes in caps on purpose) all the best you will ever have. And if you're in the mood for something lighter or sushi - they just opened a rawbar/sushi bar next door - lots of local craft beers on tap.

AMAZING!! My husband and I took my grandparents from out of town and my very picky grandpa loved it! We started with conch fritters which were delicious! I had the jumbo lump crab cake and it was almost 100% crab. It was so delicious. The soft shell crab sandwhich had a very large crab and I was delicious. Everything is amazing. It is a small restaurant so you may have to wait.

The food was good, but not exceptional. My husband and I both had fish which was good, but the sides (coleslaw and baked sweet potato) were very average. The atmosphere is "old". Our server was very nice. But, it's overpriced, we ended up spending $100 with no appetizer or dessert, just one beer each and our dinner. Doubt we'll be going back.

Got the blackened wahoo, which is a great fish. It came a little raw in the middle. I got the generic "it's suppose to be cooked like that" speech. No it's not and I doubt their wahoo is sushi grade (flash frozen). But they took it back happily and instead of penalizing me and nuking it to oblivion like many places, they cooked it just the right amount more and it was delicious. We also got blackened yellow snapper, which was terrible and too oily (which is weird because the blackened wahoo wasn't oily at all).

This place is amazing! It's a family owned and operated restaurant and they definitely know what they are doing when it comes to amazing seafood! The seafood is always so fresh and cooked to perfection, I literally think everything on their menu is amazing! People definitely love this place and it seems like they have very loyal customers! The owners and staff members are all super friendly, attentive and inviting! You are made to feel like family! Also next door is Papa's Raw Bar which is their other restaurant and let me tell you this place is amazing! From their oysters, to their sushi, to their hog fish and beer, everything is just perfect! Just like seafood world, all of the staff members are super fun and friendly! This is definitely a fun environment, really cutely decorated, they have a great menu, specials and are always having events coming up!!! I would definitely suggest going to both seafood world and Papa's Raw Bar right next door and liking and following them on Facebook and Twitter for menu items, news and upcoming events! I love their motto "Eat, Drink, and Be Local" because that's exactly what it's like! It is truly a wonderful experience with the freshest, most delicious food!!!

Made a 6:00pm on a Monday nite 8/11/14 reservation. Didn't know they opened what they call a raw bar, just a few doors down. It really was a sushi bar . Sushi chef heard us say first time here and he gave us each a small spicy like seaweed salad . Walking up it still says in colored spay paint grand opening . But we we're told they have been open for a while . Now @Seafood world . Nothing fancy. Good food . If I was the chef I would not have let that sweet potato leave the kitchen all n all food good . Not sure for that price I would go back .

I ate at Seafood World several times already. I have tried their fish and chips, the blackened swordfish, mussels, Oysters, the lobster bisque, and a shrimp platter I don't remember the name. All I can say about it is, even though it may seem a little pricey, it doesn't count that much because you can taste the freshness of the food. It is very hard to go out and find fresh seafood, even at fine dining restaurants... In regards to the staff, I don't have any complaints. I am a type of person who doesn't expect extraordinary receptions, but the lady who served all the time I went there was very attentive!!

Amazing, simply amazing. My husband ordered the seared tuna and it would have fed us both. I got the lump crab cocktail that came as two yummy crabstyle cakes. The gluten free menu was simply marked on the regular menu and not a tiny piece of paper after thought. The whole experience was perfect.

In a search for some fresh seafood we thought we'd try Seafood World and pleasantly surprised. We are appetizers eaters and tried the fried calamari, clams casino and the stuffed mushrooms. All were very fresh and served piping hot. The service was very nice and overall it was a very, very pleasant experience. We will be sure to return hand sample many more of the items on the menu. Highly recommend

This is our second time there and it was the best fresh seafood I've ever had!! We will be going back. The lobster bisque soup, omg to die for, it was delicious. Shrimp cocktail big huge shrimp. Hog fish snapper the best fish I have ever eaten.

We had a fantastic meal tonight. Mahi Mahi with crabmeat was to die for. I had my favorite, linguine with white clam sauce, so I had much to compare it to and it probably was the best that I have had. The wine sauce was exquisite. Had an excellent waitress, also. Had a small issue, which was not the fault of the restaurant-an extremely loud large party that sat in our room. The waitress recognized the issue and made it up to us by giving a discount and dessert to take home. Also, on the way out spoke with one of owners, in parking lot. Believe it or not, he actually cared AND listened. The waitress and the owner ended up turning our bad experience into a much better night, that reflected the delicious food.

For fresh, simple, good seafood, this is the place. Definitely a simple little gem of a restaurant meant for those who enjoy fresh seafood without any added pretense of décor, overly snappy service or hype. The layout of the place is certainly different. You walk into what is actually a small seafood store, then a corridor that winds around to the back where there are is a small dinning area with what is either a strange table arrangement or no arrangement at all. On the board is a list of the day's specials. Sometimes those specials are rather unique like Hog Grouper. They are also somewhat pricey, but fresh, quality seafood makes for a pricey dish to eat, so I don't find it unreasonable about. The patrons are basically more of a collection of locals and those in the know rather than the tourists who frequent the other places along Federal, which I take as a hint that there must be something good about the place. The store portion of Seafood World has a fairly decent collection of items for take home cooking. Fresh stone crab, various fish and a variety of somewhat unique frozen items like soft shell crab and crawfish, but of course if you're not from Louisiana or a Cajun, they might be known as crayfish.

When you first walk into this place, there is a display containing the nicest looking assortment of seafood; good color, fresh and not smelly! We sat and were promptly greeted by our waitress. I ordered a mug of lobster bisque while my partner ordered the clam chowder. Lobster bisque had a great flavor but lacked the chunks of lobster. The clam chowder was excellent with a wonderful flavor and an abundance of clams. We splurged and had the stone crab appetizer which was prepared just right, the meat came away easily from the shell. Not too crazy about the dipping sauce, would have been better with drawn butter. We decided on the fish and chips as our entree, but had then substitute the grouper for the cod. The fried fish was excellent; just right amount of batter to fish ratio, flaky and a good tarter sauce for dipping. Fries were also good and crispy. They also had a decent wine selection. Next time I eat here I will try the conch chowder.

My wife has been wanting to try Stone Crab legs ever since moving to Florida. After some quick research online I found Papa Hughie's. There weren't many reviews, but the ones that were available seemed positive. So it's a Saturday evening and I realize that it might be busy. I called and an older woman answered "Hello this is XXXX"-- not even identifying the name of the place. Did I call the wrong number? Wrong place? Who knows... so I just kindly asked if over the phone reservations were available for two. "No, only for five or more". Okay... So then I ask how is it looking for around 6-7pm (ie, what kind of wait can I expect) and she said "if you get in by around 6'ish then we could probably get you seated, but after that... it's going to be busy". Do people get there after 6 and stand around to find out they won't be seated? What's the point of taking any reservations on the phone at all? And why would anyone bother going to this restaurant after 6pm on a weekend with the chance that you may or will probably not be seated? I grade it an "D" for poor customer service and effort. We are in Florida, there are thousands of other seafood places to eat. Papa Hughies, you need to do better.

What a nice and pleasant restaurant. We started off with some teasers: stuffed mushroom and conch fritters. I am usually not a conch fritters fan... but this one wasn't bad, not too much bread and well, you know conch is chewy. I loved the mushrooms. On to the dinners: fried oysters and snapper francaise... to me the oysters tasted just like chicken - honest. I think my dinner partner actually enjoyed them alot more (big seafood fan). I wasn't really feeling seafood... so under those condition, the snapper was good (I wanted red curry, I don't think they make it that way yet). The meal came with the usual: bake potatoes or french fries. Upon recommendation, I tried ranch dressing on the fries. Not a bad combination. As for the service, it was top shelf!!

Nice selection of fresh seafood. We started with a few stone crab claws - YUM. My lunch was the fiesta mahi sandwich. EXCELLENT sandwich! You can get fresh seafood to go there too and we witnessed a lot of locals coming and going at the fresh counter while we were there.

I can't help but write another glowing review!!! The food there is sooo fresh and simply cooked!I had the swordfish again -and it was broiled in lemon, wine, butter sauce! yum!! with some veggies on the side plus a baked potato! It was perfectly cooked tender, great consistency and flavor--not the least bit fishy!! Plus before that, the kind chef gave me a free appetizer of 2 Maryland style crabcakes!! I usually detest crabcakes BUT this was THE BEST I've ever had!! Light tasting, crab texture perfectly prepared-sooo good-I felt soo spoiled!! With the mayonnaise sauce on the side-even better! Anyways,! I always enjoy a great meal here!! Highly recommend!!!

Our waitress has worked here for over 30 years and was extremely helpful. She took time to completely review the menu to my wife and I, pointing out several different items they are known for and several that are very unique. I have to see if my wife captured her name as I will definitely dine with her again! Since this was the first time we dined here, our waitress brought us samples of their stone crab salad mixture and the seafood vinaigrette with shrimp, fresh conch and crawfish. The vinagrette was extremely fresh and very delicious. I could make a meal out of it! I have had bad experiences with crawfish in the past but these were just delectable. The stone crab mixture was good but I felt a little less mayo was in order. My wife disagreed and devoured what was left and raved to our waitress how good it was. I ordered a mug of lobster bisque and the unstuffed fish which was a yellowtail snapper topped with crabmeat and lobster sauce. Lobster bisque: literally served in a coffee mug. Very rich with nice sized pieces of lobster. Be sure to stir it up or dig deep as mine settled to the bottom. One of the better lobster bisques I have had. The unstuffed fish, where oh where do I begin??? I could eat this every day of the week! I had mine prepared with the yellowtail and not only was the portion size large, the crab meat was plentiful and complemented this dish perfectly. No breading, breadcrumbs or filler, just snapper topped with crabmeat surrounded by broccoli and a delicious lobster sauce. The fish was prepared perfectly! The sauce did not overwhelm the dish and I devoured every last morsel of this meal, which I will certainly have again. My wife ordered the conch party. Which included conch chowder, cracked conch and conch fritters. BRING YOUR APPETITE if you order this!!! Mug of conch chowder, which I sampled and enjoyed, my wife raved. A full order of conch fritters followed, approximately 6-8. The homemade dipping sauce was nice and there were large pieces of conch to be found in each fritter! These were served piping hot! Following all of that a full dinner plate of cracked conch emerged for my wife's final course. A dent was barely made and she really enjoyed this. We are definitely coming back to try the seafood lasagna when it is on special again. Our waitress also added us to the call list for their next clam bake, so excited for that!!! Finally, don't let the front of the place scare you off or the seafood market area. Locals come in and out for fresh fish or a beer and chat with the staff. You see them select your fish if you're seated in the area and you can take anything home with you.

Seafood World Market & Restaurant is the type of seafood that Florida was once known for. I had drivin by a number of times but always thought it was a seafood market which it is. Then one night I was watching Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares. The show was about a French restaurant a few doors down. Through the course of the show Gordon Ramsey went into a restaurant a couple doors down to compare service with the "Nightmare" restaurant service. The restaurant wasn't named but I recognized the store front. Mr. Ramsey also commented on how good the food was. A couple days later I decided to give Seafood World a try. I've been back 3 times in the past week. The food is old Florida / Caribbean cooking at its best. My favorite is the conch sandwich with the peas and rice as a side. The snapper is also outstanding. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I was almost ready to give 4 stars due to the prices, but it's seafood in a somewhat pricy community. The food easily rates 5 stars. It doesn't look like much but remember looks can be deceiving. The market also looks to have a excellent selection of fresh seafood.

Excellent seafood and service! Hard to choose, so many great choices. Grouper was marvelous. farm raised oysters were good, but can't compare to the real thing. should not have had those. the key lime pie was the best I have had. i would go back just for that.

Both a restaurant and seafood market makes for a great combination. We ordered take out from the market, which included a dozen Conch fritters fried to perfection with wonderful creole spices served with cocktail sauce, in each bite you can taste nice conch chunks. We also ordered a pound of medium stone crabs which are only found in the keys and Miami area. Served with a creamy mustard sauce, the stone crab was great and you really do not need to order the large claws as the medium ones are big enough. In previous trips here, I ordered the gator tail which is served with a southwest sauce, which is also really good. The menu is pricey, but this is to be excepted with fresh seafood and the restaurant located so close to the ocean.

I just don't get the so many positive reviews from other posters. I wanted it to be really good, but was very disappointed. To start, the bread basket presented was extremely dry and tasteless. Our party of 4 tried different items, several shrimp dishes and none of us were particularly pleased with the meal. The side salad was boring iceburg lettuce that clearly had been made several hours prior and was wilting. The prices were very high for the quality of the food presented. Its funny we ate at a Bonefish Grill, a chain restaurant, the night before and we all were in agreement that it tasted better and at a much lower costs. Sufice to say, we will not be back. To be fair, the shrimp tasted fresh and no one was ill from eating at this establishment.

Somewhat pricey for the atmosphere, yes, but very attentive and friendly service and outstanding quality fish. Our server was really knowledgeable about the types of fish, the variation among their flavors and why, as well as the preparations for the fish. I think her name was Megan. There was another sever too, who seemed really on top of her table. A man, who I believe was Papa himself, came by to check on us and make sure we were enjoying our meal, which I appreciated. I tried some stone crab claws for an appetizer, which was really expensive for 4 large claws at $38, but it was exceptionally tasty and fresh. I haven't had stone crabs before, so I'm not familiar with what's considered reasonable pricing. I've had many good crabs in my day however, and these were excellent. For my main course I ordered the hog snapper francaise. It was divine. It was $32 for a massive portion of perfectly prepared, super fresh hog snapper. It was my first time trying hog snapper too, which was delicious. Our server said that it's their best selling dish. I like that they have a fresh seafood market at the front of the restaurant, but a somewhat upscale casual dining area too. All in all a very enjoyable dinner. I look forward to returning when in town again.

All our fish was rubbery and undercooked. Service was slow and indifferent. Would never go there again.

Seafood vinaigrette(conch, crawfish and schrimp) for lunch with a heiny light, some raw oysters, divey feeling, friendly service, seafood counter looked nice and fresh with a nice variety.

Went here for my 25th birthday dinner with my boyfriend. We were ushered outside to wait to be seated. We were told it would be a 25-40 minute wait which is no problem, I got excited hoping that since it was busy it was probably very good food especially after the reviews I've read on here. A girl did come and bring us drinks but after that it was almost as if we were complete forgotten about- no one came for refill drinks and my bf had to go inside to see if our table was ready- when we were finally seated it was in a busy corridor and terrible location for a crammed table- my chair was kicked unintentionally by other guests leaving the table near me on a few occasions. The waitress was very friendly and knowledgable of the menu. We ordered stuffed mushrooms which were good. The side salad was also fine but I ordered a shrimp dinner with rice and my boyfriend ordered an extremely over priced fried seafood combo. The shrimp I ordered was overcooked and unpeeled which made it difficult to eat bc it was covered in a bland but spicy sauce. The rice was absolutely terrible- I can make better rice from a box. My bf didn't even eat his meal- the fried shrimp he tried to eat still had the shell before it was fried, the fried conch was burned and inedible, the mahi was rubbery. $25 for a shitty, over fried, 6 pieces of seafood- i would have enjoyed fishbites from mcdonalds more. We didn't complain- I hate complaining but we definitely will not be back. The prices for the food offered were absolutely terrible for the quality. I feel very upset that I followed so many other yelpers recommendation to eat here- and it baffles me that everyone is raving about this place but i would NOT recommend it and we definitely will NOT be back.

I love the seafood, and Papa Hughie's Seafood loves me. It has the look and feel of a shanty (but clean) Bahamian or Keys seafood joint. All wood decor & fish mounts dominate. Staff was friendly and attentive. I had the conch cerviche, which was a massive portion and absolutely phenomenal. I also had the blackened scallop sandwich. While the bread looked good, I just ate the scallops with a slice of tomato. The scallops were just cooked, which is perfect to me, with a nice, but not dominate or burnt blackening on them. The tomato was great too, as that is an often under performer for a sandwich at a lot of places. Plus they have a take out counter and a fish stand that has salads, cerviches and fresh fish & shrimp for you to take home & cook. Can't attest for anything in there except the conch cerviche. Not cheap, but when is good fresh seafood ever cheap. But the portions are also quite large, so that offsets anything. Love this place, a great healthy alternative for lunch for sure.

My husband and I found this place on yelp while in town visiting. The exterior of the building is very unassuming. The inside was comfortable and the staff was very friendly. Try the Crab Rangoon! They were amazing.

Simply what seafood should be. Fresh, colorful and just tasty to perfection. Bring em all here cause it's worth it. So many joints are a dime a dozen but with seafood don't play games and just come to seafood world.

Yelpers recommended this place and as usual it didn't disappoint. The food was fantastic, Mary, our server, was really patient and her suggestions were right-on. Had the grouper picatta with artichokes & capers it was fantastic. The stone crab with the house mustard sauce was great and the conch chowder was satisfying. Definitely a place to go for seafood.

My coworker suggested I try this place because it had good seafood. I was a little scared by the look from the outside but inside it was totally different and quaint. It had kind of a homey feeling. I believe there was only one waitress for the entire restaurant but she was quick, nice and efficient, I was impressed! I had the clam chowder which was a little watery for my taste but still tasted good. The conch fritters were great. I had a hog snapper sandwich which was good, the fries were a little ehhh, they could have been better, but overall I would definitely come back.

Seafood World is the place to be if your in the mood for seafood in Ft. Lauderdale. Yes the name is incredibly cheesy, as is the restaurants decor. That said, this place has some of the best seafood outside of the mid and upper atlantic with great prices and incredibly friendly service. We had a reservation here and were sat immediately (the reservation probably wasn't necessary). We were promptly greeted by our server and offered drinks and appetizers. I was feeling saucy so I ordered a Corona and half a dozen oysters while the ladies ordered crab stuffed mushrooms. The oysters were monstrous and extra slimely. The waiter gained street cred when he brought me extra horseradish after I decimated my first batch. The stuffed mushrooms were kind of watery and just mediocre. For dinner we had Alaskan crab legs, shrimp, and broiled scallops. The crab legs were monstrous and very heavy and delicous. I used so much butter that it was dripping down my chin and embarrassing the ladies I was with. The shrimp were also good because they were steamed with old bay. Lastly, the scallops were also incredibly as they were broiled in what seemed to be a vat of butter. No joke, when I left this place my heart must have been at 20 beats per minute. I ate that much butter. After dinner we decided to pass on dessert here and go to Kilwin's. Our waiter was cool about it and delivered and dealt with our check real quick. This is the place to go to for seafood. Take my word for it.

Our first visit based on other yelpers reviews. What a friendly place! Great seafood retail counter - good competition for Pop's. Terrific ambiance. Attentive service. Loved the Gulf oysters. Split a seafood paella. Good seafood with some sausage. Probably better off with the core seafood preps. Back soon!

I've been to this restaurant several times. The food is good, not great. The decor is really shabby. For the prices they charge, they found renovate the restaurant. The takeout is good, stone crabs and fish salads. PLEASE make the restaurant more pleasant.....!

My coworkers and I have become regulars at Seafood World and I can't get enough! We don't even use menus anymore, we just ask Donna to bring whatever she wants to feed us and we are constantly impressed that they manage to prepare the best seafood we have ever had! Some of the other reviewers mentioned specific menu items and appetizers, but I can honestly say I have never had a single morsel of food here that I didn't absolutely love!

Everything you order here is going to taste delish! If you don't like swordfish, then don't order it. They make the freshest fish (any way you want it) but they don't make magic. It is pricey but that goes with any real, good seafood restaurant. To start with, I enjoy the soups. I have tried them all. I like the spiciness of the Bahamian Conch chowder with a drop of sherry. The clam chowder is awesome with plenty of clams; and the lobster bisque is wonderful if you like creamy and chunks of lobster. Goes great with the warm baguette served on the table. I have posted a pic of the killer BLT sandwich. It is my personal fav aside from the pricey stone crabs or surf n' turf. The combination of the [award winning] jumbo lump crab cake with a hearty cut of blackened mahi plus all the traditional BLT fixins and a dab of chipotle mayo is genius! You can eat it messy in your hands or take it apart like I do. It's just too big for my mouth to fit around! We took a slice of homemade chocolate cake to go and surprisingly it was pretty dam good, and moist. The key lime pie must be good too because they have it individually packed available for sale in their "homemade seasonings and sauces" refrigerator. If you want to see for yourself, watch the YouTube video as seen on the tv show "Check Please" I really love this place and the family-like service! We always look forward to returning and continue to be wow'ed each time!

I have lived in South Florida for 30 years and I'm sorry I did not find Seafood World till last night. The food was fantastic, and the staff were very friendly.

Back soon!

Really great SF and Bahamian dishes. Service was excellent as well. A little pricy but worth it.
